The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our top option. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or going to school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant automatic vacuum and mop cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets but it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performing combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm is ideal for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky models from the competition. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robot vacuum cleaners reviews vacuum/mop that has 100% in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an easy mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work or at night when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it will cost you more and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, as well as washes and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection but this was not reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would expect from its price tag. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and [Redirect-302] a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to ensure better performance. The app also provides access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It has an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.
