Bedside Crib and Travel Cot

Bedside cribs are a type of cot that fixes to the bed's side. Some have an end that can be adjusted to allow easy access, and others have an inclined design that is perfect for reflux babies.

MFM tester Georgina found this crib very simple to assemble and the instructions were clear, making it an easy and quick build. It folds down to an extremely compact size and comes with a handy travel bag.

Easy to assemble

Bedside cribs are typically easy to set up, and are on the smaller side, so they fit neatly alongside your bed. They are also lighter, making them more transportable. Georgina, one of our MFM home test participants, praised the Maxi-Cosi for being "super easy to construct, with clear instructions and simple zips." The crib can be used as a travel cot and comes with a convenient bag. It comes with multiple mesh openings for ventilation, and its adjustable height allows it to be adapted to any mattress.

It folds flat and easily fits into a bag.

The Next2me Magic, shortlisted for Best Cot, Crib, or Moses Basket in the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards, has a larger capacity, but it is small and easy to connect to your bed. Georgina also found it easy to set up although she thought the instructions could have been more clear regarding the zips.

Easy to clean

Look for cribs with mattress covers that can be washed with the machine when you are looking at cribs for bed or travel cots. This will help keep it clean from leaky nappies, infant sick and spills. It is also recommended to choose one that is easily disassembled so you can clean and disinfect all the corners.

This is vital, as it's the best way to ensure that all dirt and germs have been cleared away. You'll also want to check that the sides of your crib are securely secured, ensuring that there aren't any gaps or areas where your baby could potentially fall down or get trapped.
