World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade

Item upgrades allow players to raise the item level of equippable weapons and armor. This boosts the stats of that gear, as well as sometimes adding buffs or rolling an affix again.

The items can be upgraded at any NPC who is an upgrader in the game. In general these NPCs are found in major cities or questing locations. You can also find item-upgraders in dungeons that feature high-level bosses, and speaking to NPCs in garrisons of your faction.

The World of Warcraft item upgrade system allows players to increase the level of armor, weapons and trinkets. This process is very similar to the process of reforging gear in Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor however, instead of using the currency that is appropriate players must visit an item upgrader NPC to complete the process.

Time

Upgrades to items can be used to increase the performance of your equipment and ship without having to level them. Although upgrading isn't cheap, it can be an effective way to boost your performance without having to spend a lot of time in combat. It is important to understand the costs and benefits before investing your time or money.

Each upgrade increases an item's base stat by a specific amount and also offers a chance for a bonus stat increase. The random substat could be anything from a minor boost to a much larger boost. By selecting the item and pressing the green button that has an arrow that rerolls players can reroll it to create an upgradeable item. This will change the layout of the item's window and allow players to choose up to six items to "recycle". The item that is recycled will be exchanged with an item at level 1 of the same kind. Recycled items won't keep their level, or the resources used to upgrade them.

The maximum level of upgrade for an item is determined by its quality and tier. Common items can be upgraded to the maximum level of six while Rare and Epic items can be upgraded up to level nine.
