It's extremely efficient and does a great job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It can vacuum carpeted rooms fast, and hardwood floors in the kitchen, Automatic Vacuum Cleaner living room and hallways with only one pass. Its motor of 8,000pa is able to remove dirt as well as pet hair and even droppings with ease. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it comes into contact with rugs, and the dual side brushes help pull away debris from corners.

The mopping efficiency, while still impressive, is not as impressive. The rotating mop spins fast and makes use of 2.2lbs to clean dirt and stains. I've noticed that the front arm extends out a bit more than other robots. This is useful when you're trying to get into difficult corners or on baseboards. The front arms can also be used to scoop up larger pieces of debris, like broken toys and books.

The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive of our review. It does however, have distinct features that make it worth considering. The X1 Omni's most appealing feature is its enormous dock, which serves as the robot's charging base and the housing for two 4-liter water tanks, a clean sink and the 2.5-liter dust bin that automatically eliminates.

The base has a couple of buttons for control that allow you to manually begin a cleaning task, recall the robot or run the dock’s auto-emptying procedure. Press two of the buttons to toggle the child lock, which is a nice touch for parents worried about kids tinkering with the vacuum.

Similar to other robotic vacuums, the X1 Omni uses its camera to spot furniture and obstacles in its path and eliminate them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system will map your home 10 times faster than standard laser detection systems and is four times more precise in recognising objects.

Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni can occasionally become so entangled with an obstacle--such as a power cord draped across a rug that it becomes stuck and stops working until you manually free it. While this was rare but it was a very frustrating experience when it happened particularly since the X1 Omni doesn't come with a "stuck" status alert on its application.

Another possible issue is the X1 Omni's inability to automatically change between vacuuming and mopping modes during a cleaning session. You will have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't that bad but mopping pads don't get cleaned or dried between use. This could lead to mildew and mold.

The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame), robot Vacuum cleaners Best (sixn.net) who created its sleek, modern base and mopping pad. It's a major contrast to the utilitarian, black bases of competitors like Roborock and iRobot and a pleasing appearance in a market which is dominated by clunky, boxy units.
