The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's most popular robot vacuum and mop is the newest version. It's not like the model from last year it comes with an agitator that doubles in its mopping pad which significantly improves its carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has an improved suction capacity, allowing it to pull up fine hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners may miss.

This Roborock model, like the other two I tried, has infrared and reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it avoid obstacles such as furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and incorporates a dual-camera that can identify objects, and determine if they're walls or other surfaces. It can then automatically change its path and clean around them without skipping a beat.

It's the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, however, it's also the most feature-packed. Its sleek, angular design is eye-catching and it only has three physical buttons: the power button, that also resumes cleaning; a mop button that doubles as a child lock and a home button that can send the robot vacuum reviews back to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml dustbin and 200ml water tank. The water tank is automatically filled and the bin auto-refills.

The only drawback I could find to this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount is not removable. You can replace the mopping cloth if required, but it's a challenge to take the mount off for manual washing. I've observed that any soft carpet that the robot passes will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener mechanism on the mount, and can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart capabilities which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can manage and set up these using the Roborock app which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings and monitor the battery's lifespan. You'll need to jump through a few steps to enable voice control on this model. It's a shame, considering how efficient it is otherwise.

3. Dreame X40
