WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.

Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the Item Level Upgrade that is used for the upgrade item will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item, however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items which can be used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They are purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool using an button, which will display an image of the item at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot of the item and the current item level. For instance weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. After an item upgrading has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Crests

Using these new currencies isn't too complicated, but the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. For example, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance, it's Best item upgrader to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment you have, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The account-wide discount is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
