Robot vacuums and Best Robot Vacuum and Mop mop are getting more powerful. They pass our cleaning tests, and can take care of various flooring. Find models that let you choose from multiple modes, use their charging dock to self-empty and clean up stairs.

The S1 was capable of mapping my downstairs quickly, which comprises flooring in the kitchen, dining area and bathrooms and a carpet in the middle and a large area. It was able to drive close to walls without hitting them and even managed to cross raised room thresholds with no issue, though it occasionally was unable to navigate down the stairs in one move. The S1 also did an excellent job of cleaning hard floors with its mop that moved effortlessly on its flat side against the floor and then lifting its own weight when it reaches carpet or rugs.

Prior to each mopping session the docking station on the S1 automatically emptys its dust bin and fills up its water tank onboard with filtered, clean water ozonated. The dock also adds a cleaning solution into the water to ensure deep cleaning. The S1's tank of water holds enough water for about a dozen cleaning sessions before it needs to be cleaned, although this can vary based on how often you use the mop.

The S1 requires periodic maintenance, just like all 2-in-1 robots. For this, you'll need to clean the water tank that is dirty regularly to keep it from becoming clogged. You'll also need to clean the swivel wheels and sensors regularly to keep them from getting blocked by dirt or dust. Overall the S1 requires less maintenance than other combos.

2. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo Complete

This all-in-one robot mop and vacuum from Ecovacs is a powerful option for your cleaning requirements. Its robot hoover and mop vacuum has 8700Pa of suction power and comes with many unique features, including voice control and smart path scheduling that cleans furniture and eliminates obstacles. Its mopping ability is impressive. Rotating mops actually lift the floor and scrub it, rather than just drag a pad across a surface. The mops can also be dried and cleaned at the base station when required.

This robot has an easy interface that guides you throughout the process. It also comes with a hand-vacuum which can be used to clean those hard-to reach areas that the robot is unable to reach. There are also two water tanks that are automatically emptied or refilled. It also has a number of useful settings to fine-tune your cleaning preferences.

The Deebot X2 Combo Complete does excellent job of vacuuming, and has a powerful suction that easily picks up most of the debris, and even tiny dust particles that other robots struggle with. Its navigation capabilities are pretty robust, however it does sometimes get hung in the small rug or area mats I have in my house (which is something you can mitigate by defining a virtual boundary in the app). The mopping capabilities are quite impressive, and comes with a pair of spinning mop pads that actually lift and scrub floors, as opposed to simply dragging the pad over it. The mops can be cleaned using heated water and dried in the basestation when needed. Mops can also be replenished at the top of the station if needed.

3. Dreame X40 ultra

Dreame launched the luxurious X30 Ultra earlier this year, but their new top-of-the-line robot mop and vacuum comes with more impressive features. It is a great cleaner and is easy to maintain. This makes it a worthy contender for our list of the top mops and robot vacuums. Its superior mapping capabilities, RGB AI smart recognition and a long side brush ensure a thorough, customised clean.

The X40 Ultra vacuums well, getting rid of both large and fine debris. It is a great choice on carpets and hard floors. It cleaned the dirtiest areas of our tests with ease by avoiding pet hairs as well as other mess. The Q5 is one of the few robots we test that didn't have issues with high-pile carpets or area carpets, but it didn't remove cat litter or cable tangles that's not a surprise considering it doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance.

5. K10 Plus

K10 Plus is one of the quietest robot vacuums we have tested. It also has a unique method to map your home. This really helps it get into corners and tight spaces that other vacuums can't reach. The device also collects dust in a bigger dustbin which means you need to empty it less often. It also has washable filters which reduces the cost. The robot vacuum and mop is able to detect carpets and increase suction if needed. The app allows you to mark areas that you want it to stay clear of and is a great feature.
