Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that vacuum and clean provide the convenience of cleaning dry debris and wet mess in one session, without having to switch devices. They can also help save storage space compared to having two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot will offer excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Find models that automatically empty their bins and refill their water tank, and machine-wash their mopping pads with the dock that is specifically designed for them.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has plenty to offer for its relatively affordable price and is one of the most simple robots we've tested to set up. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and the quick-start guide will get you running with a clean, full dust bag, floor solution for hard floors and water tank in no time at all.

The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that cleans up a mess and also vacuums well. The mops spin at fast speeds and can apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, which makes short work of dirt, pet hair, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, a range of attachments and brushes and an intuitive app which lets you choose the kind of cleaning you'd like to do for each room.

For instance, you can opt for the robot to clean up the kitchen and living rooms but go easy on the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It is able to detect small obstacles that other models are unable to. The only drawback is that it tends to hit walls and objects at a high speed. However, a quick look at the cleaning history on the app will tell you precisely what the robot has accomplished, where it's moving, and what obstacles it has stumbled upon or avoided.

A convenient LCD screen on the docking station informs you when maintenance tasks need to be done including emptying the debris tray and cleaning the dirty water tank. It is also able to mix detergent into the water tank automatically with a 600ml of eufy solution.

Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum have a long running time. The mop is able to run for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode and the vacuum can run for 136 minutes in normal mode, before needing to recharge or returning back to the base. You can also view the full cleaning details in the app, which is clearly laid out and easy to understand, though we would have liked to be able to distinguish between a mop only vacuum and a vacuum/mop clean when looking at a clean area in the cleaning history.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's flagship robot vacuum and mop, is the most recent version. The model of this year features an agitator that doubles as its mopping pad. This enhances the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra also has improved suction power, allowing it to pick up small hairs and other particles that other robotic cleaner and mop cleaners could miss.

Like the two other Roborock models I've tested the S8 Pro Ultra has a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to can help it avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and includes dual cameras that can detect objects, determining if they're walls or other surfaces. It will then automatically alter its path and clean them without missing a beat.

It's the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed but it's also the most packed with features. Its sleek, angular style is attractive and it has just three physical buttons that include the power button which can also restart cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock and a home button to bring the robot back to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml dustbin and 200ml of water tank. The water tank will empty itself and the bin auto vacuum and mop-refilling.

The only issue I have discovered with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount isn't movable. It is possible to replace the mopping cloth when required, but it's a challenge to take the mount off for manual washing. I've noticed that any plush carpet that the robot passes will come into contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, which could cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart features, including support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can configure and manage these via the Roborock app which is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you schedule cleanings and track battery life. You'll have to go through a series of steps to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame, considering how well-performing it is otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 robot mop vacuum and mop is a leader in the industry with cutting-edge features, high suction power and cutting-edge mopping capabilities. Its clever design permits personalized and efficient cleaning, while reducing time.

The X40 is the first robot vacuum cleaners reviews vacuum cleaner to deliver 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which easily makes it one of the most effective options available. This powerful vacuum cleans up dry debris, including pet hair and crumbs. It also comes with a high-quality mop that leaves hard floors sparkling clean, even with a wet pad. Unlike other robots, which are restricted to a single task, the X40 can mop and automatic vacuum and mop at the same time. It can also be programmed to avoid areas that have carpet and only mop hard floors, or reverse the process. It can be controlled by the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure that voice-controlled operations are smooth and easy.

The app is intuitive and user-friendly and the X40's clever features are simple to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, look at floor plans and mapping and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also track its progress and inform you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy to maintain and has numerous features that make it a great option for busy families. Its docking station automatically empties the dustbin into a huge 3.2 L bin, cleans the mop pads, then refills them with clean water and a cleaning solution. It can also detect the moment when the mop pad is at its capacity to the max and notify you of the situation prior to it bursting.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available on the market. However, it has many features that make it stand out. Smart DuoScrub is a brand new feature on its mops, uses two mop heads with high-speed motors to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a suction force of 7,000Pa. This is much higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can clean pet hair and smaller dirt particles as well as picking up spills and wet spots.

The mop mops are cleaned and dried in the base station each time they are used. This is beneficial because it prevents mould and unpleasant odours that can build up in the storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a feature has yet to be seen on other robot vacuums and mop models and could be a great way of keeping your home hygienic for longer.

There's a wealth of settings on offer that include the possibility to schedule cleaning appointments and alter a variety of preferences. They can be set through the app or buttons that can be found on the unit itself. The app is simple to use and provides a variety of options for customizing the cleaning routine, and there are many functions that other robots don't include, for instance, the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power whenever it detects dust particles, instead of using a manual setting.

The L20 Ultra has a stylish design with a white-and-metallic finish that looks sophisticated and classy. It's heavier than the other two-in-one robots in this list - at around 4kg however it's not overly heavy, and it feels robust and well built. The mopping is also well-designed, and the double rotating mop is great for hard floors and Robots that vacuum and mop in corners. They can even extend to 2mm baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature, which is a nice addition.
