World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.

If the template for upgrading a weapon is in %, the weapon will increase 3% of its previous damage every time it's upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item's level increases.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into weapons, armor, and trinkets in order to provide an additional stat boost or effect while they're in use. They can be obtained through making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment with a slot for them; the item must be at least upgraded to the blue level to allow a component to be applied. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once and cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment, as well as some of the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and Item Upgrader Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it is used on (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions using less upgrade crystals than they require to reach the same level using standard methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defence attributes of a weapon, or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades are available for purchase them in the cash shop, or by getting them from enemies while upgrading other gear.

Each upgrade item increases the probability that a higher tier version of an item will be dropped during the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue upgrading their gear even if they're not sure of how much they'll increase after a future reset.

The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process can be costly, and there is a substantial risk that the item may be obsolete or even break when it fails; a failure to upgrade can cause the destruction of Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the possibility of failure. Some upgrades also offer an additional bonus when reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs can boost the performance of nodes within a radius, including any existing attaches. Glyphs can be upgraded in numerous ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as possible to level 15.

You'll often see in the endgame that putting Glyphs is a great method to upgrade item your equipment. These are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded up to level 15 and give significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.

Glyphs, the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced with no restrictions are the most commonly used. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and re-placed using the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

Each Glyph has a certain range of values that it can improve a statistic by. The value is shown when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use as well as through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs then you have to put them on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that will boost the stats of a particular set of nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Glyphs will boost all nodes that are connected to them, which is why it is recommended to place Glyphs in the most important places on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For example, a Druid should try to position their Glyphs near their primary damage points, however, you may also want to consider placing them near critical damage nodes, too.

Leveling

The item upgrading system lets players increase the effectiveness of certain items by placing upgraded components inside them. This is commonly known as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with an amount that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each item level requires a different number of components to be reached and the costs for upgrading increase as the item upgrader mod gets upgraded.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab of crafting tables. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns several Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and when enough points are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When an individual player upgrades an item, the base item is replaced by the new item. This means that the same armor piece will get the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item upgrade will also come with a bonus of its own. This could be a drawback in that the item could increase in price even if you do not require it.

The upgrades to items can be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens in order to do so. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a new one, with the level 1 base, and a totally different set of bonus bonuses. This can be useful for some items, but it's not something that should be repeated often, as it could waste lots of resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled many times which increases their value and allowing the player to customize their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides a buff if the player continuously enters or leaves the water. This can be upgraded several times, each time increasing the max roll by 10 points. This item is very useful in PvP. A well-rolled version can be worth as much as 50x the value of its non-upgraded counterpart.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade the level of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by presenting the appropriate currency and items to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces boost the defense of the base set and upgrades to weapon items increase the damage they deal as well as the required strength and dexterity.

All items can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero equipment, which can be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade an object, it is at risk of failing. The probability of failure increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures will result in the item reverting to its initial state and the player having to purchase more materials than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.

If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar on the bar for growth will be reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it gained like chances to be crit attack damage, other effects (such as a higher healing rate over time, or the speed of reloading). The player will be able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it receives a crit chance boost it will be applied before any attack damage increases. A new attribute called Slots is now added to the definition of the item and the value is recomputed each time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to its base value. For example an Best item upgrade that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost. 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will have an incredibly lower cost for each upgrade.

Premium items could require different upgrades than normal equipment. For instance they might require less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. The player will need to carry every piece of equipment they wish to upgrade to NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade cost mentioned above, each equipment upgrade requires the use of different ingredients for upgrading.
