Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Usually, items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, whereas items with strong bases such as eth titans aren't affected much in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be incorporated into weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or extra effect when the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, gathered in loot, thrown away by enemies or as a reward for missions or chests. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before they are upgraded.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will have to select it and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade stats and the required component or materials.

There are three kinds of upgrade components: item upgrading universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, are able to be placed on any type of equipment. They offer a lower bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear and legendary equipment, are the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, include their name at the end of the name of the item upgrades they are attached to, for instance adding a Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the instance of upgrades for gathering tools when a player swaps one glyph with a different one, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace another upgrade component the item will be destroyed, except for the inscriptions that are able to be swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant variations from the previous versions. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can be upgraded a set number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost for upgrades is increased with each level, but the required materials aren't as high. This allows players to focus their efforts on a couple of important items to maximize their impact, instead of spreading the upgrade costs across multiple items.

This will allow the item to receive new upgrade components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if an upgrade item fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

Once a piece is upgraded to its highest level, it can receive an affix to increase its capabilities. The number of affixes available is determined by the item's type. For example the rare or exclusive weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes for it, whereas a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes for it.

Each upgrade process requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on the type of item at its current level and what slot it is in. In general, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.

If an item does not reach its maximum level, the NPC grants the player the option to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a different set or upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and costs the same amount of material however it will have lower chances of success.

Engineers may employ a level to measure the height of the building to a known point, such as the benchmark. This method is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings using the level and backsight rod before turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are built to a high level of safety and accuracy.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing an item's upgrade components. It is an essential element of the game, and it can improve an item's damage, strength or other characteristics. You can do this via the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button whenever you upgrade an item. Rerolling items can be expensive and should be handled with care.

The game lets players recycle upgraded items, which are used to earn tokens for rerolls. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or a similar Best item upgrade. Recyclable items have a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and the upgrade cost of the item.

Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes which made them easier to roll. This meant that you'd receive the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns and diminished duration due to control or the weapon's bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.

This was changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for all stats. This can be either good or bad, based on what you're looking to get from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can also be equipped with a special bonus that increases the item's power by a specific percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added to the normal affixes. The more you upgrade your product, the better the chance of receiving the bonus of a different kind.

The game also comes with a number of sets, which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on a unit. This is a great way to give a character a lot more power without spending a lot of money.

Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear particularly in the beginning stages. Rerolling is a method to create a more powerful character faster, which allows players to advance in the game and attain higher levels.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be organized in different ways. They can be of different sizes, contain none of the elements, or contain a single element. They can be used to organize data or sorting information. They can also be used to analyze patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways such as size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides an array of upgradeable set items. Certain items are worth upgrading, while some are not. Armor sets that provide the highest defense value or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in improving stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you already have many armor pieces or weapons.

Set items can be upgraded to include special tools that are suitable for certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).

Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them into the same level with their counterparts in their tiers. The Immortal King Set, for example, has a wide range of levels, from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower level items can enhance their defense, and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

To determine if an item is worth upgrading, players should click the Upgrade button in the screen of their character. The item will be displayed with its characteristics, as well as the items needed to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternately, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to see the upgrade requirements of specific items.

In general, Item upgrading armor and weapons are more valuable when fully updated. Particularly for weapons with spell/weapon damage glyphs, upgrading them to gold is recommended as it will provide a significant increase in their power. Weapons with an upgraded appearance will also benefit from this because its defense will increase as it moves from purple to gold.
