World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.

If the weapon's upgrade template is %, it will be able to gain 3% of its previous damage every time it is upgraded.

Item upgrading costs crests and the item's current level. The cost increases as the level of the item increases.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, weapons and armor to give them a boost in stats or an extra effect. They can be acquired through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading, or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item level upgrade must have been at least upgraded to the blue level in order for the component to be applied. Unlike other mods, item upgrader upgrade components can only be used one time; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component that is that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may include a suffix or prefix changing the name of the equipment with which it is applied (for instancefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players create stronger versions with less upgrade crystals than they require to reach the same level with normal methods.

A boost upgrade can change the attack or defense attributes of the weapon or armor. These upgrades can be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or by purchasing them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals each.

The player can get a maximum of five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will drop at the time of the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue improving their equipment even if they're uncertain of the extent to which it will improve following a subsequent reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be costly, and it is possible that the item will be obsolete or even break when the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the risk of failure. Certain upgrades also provide an additional bonus when they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, which includes any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways, and we suggest getting them to level 15 whenever you can.

Each level of item requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be bought from NPCs, or on the upgrade tab in crafting tables. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used for the upgrading of an item. When enough points have been earned you will be able to claim your upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When a player upgrades the equipment they have it is replaced by an item that is new. The same armor will receive the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also has its own bonus. This could be a drawback, as it can make the item more expensive, even if you don't need it.

If the player has enough tokens, they can roll the upgrade of their item. The item will be replaced with the same item, but it has a level 1 basis and totally different bonuses. This is a good option for certain items, however it shouldn't be repeated often, as it could waste many resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled several times, increasing their value and allows the player to modify their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants buffs when the player is repeatedly in or exits water. The item can be upgraded several times, increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is very important in PvP. A well-rolled version could be worth as much as 50x the value of a non-upgraded counterpart.

Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to increase the quality of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrader NPC. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also increase the defense base of that piece, while upgrading weapon items will increase the damage base as well as the required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.

All items can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear which can have eight upgrades. Each when you upgrade an item it has an opportunity to fail. The rate of failure increases as you exceed the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will cause the item to go to its initial condition, which requires the user to pay more for materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.

If an item is not upgraded the experience bar in the bar for growth will be reset to zero. In addition the item will lose any bonuses it gained such as crit chance and attack damage, and all other effects that are associated with that effect (for instance, a higher healing over time or reload speed). The player is able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that if a weapon increases its crit chance it will be applied before any attack damage increases. Slots is a new attribute that was added to item definitions. The value is calculated every time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost for upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade. For instance, a standard equipment item could have five upgrades with a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero quality items will have an incredibly lower cost for each upgrade.

Premium items may have different upgrade requirements than regular gear. For example they might require less sowels, but they will require more minerals and orons.
