The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it will leave your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in removing dog hair. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our top option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the task of cleaning a whole home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as certain area rugs. It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxes this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, best robot hoover a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and look better. If you're willing some more volume and some extra cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The automatic vacuum cleaner and mop has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to how dirty they tend to be.

For larger houses it's worth looking for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your home by using the app or voice commands. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have lot furniture. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum cleaner uk vacuum to resume where it left off can be very useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would think from its price. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app also gives access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It's good robot vacuum at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
