There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our first option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good deal, especially if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also quiet and can be used when you're at work or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to offer cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.

This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky models of the competition. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in mornings prior to work or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and look better. If you're willing to put up some more volume and a little more cost this is a capable two-in-one that should delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot vacuum cleaner reviews uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to how dirty they are.

For larger homes it's worth looking for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot vacuum cleaner to clean one particular area of your house via the app or voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might think from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to set up a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and a small base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
