In contrast to other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped by a different jewel of the same kind without destroying the original one. You can only replace the jewel once within an item of equipment.

It is common to use more jewels for aesthetic reasons. Apart from improving performance, the diamonds create an area that is stronger than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots won't damage them as easily.

In addition to the upgrades mentioned above additionally, players can get glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one prior to the beginning of the game. Mid and top players, on the other hand, will choose a green or a pink ward, based on the matchup. These choices will have a major impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.
