World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. They also increase bonuses like damage from PvE and crit chance.

If the template for upgrading a weapon ends in %, it will gain an additional 3% of the previous damage each time it is upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item upgrader is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item's level increases.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armor and trinkets in order to give them a boost in stats or an extra effect. These can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading with other players or Item Upgrader Mod looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level for a component to be inserted. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied once. They are not able to be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a type of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascending equipment, as as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it's used on (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, allowing players create stronger versions with the smallest amount of Upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level using standard methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defence attributes of the weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop, or by obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other gear.

Each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item upgrade will be dropped in the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their gear even in the event that they don't know how much it will be improved following the reset.

The process of upgrading an Item Upgrader Mod can be expensive and it is likely that the item will eventually become obsolete or even break when the upgrade is unsuccessful. Glyphs

Each Glyph has a specific range of values that it can improve a statistic by. The value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of an Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Each level of an item requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab in crafting tables. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to leveling up an item. When enough points have been earned you'll be able to claim your upgrade and also receive the bonuses.

When an item is upgraded by a player, the base item is replaced with a new item of the same type. This means that the same armor piece will get an weapon or shield once upgraded.
