Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum will keep your floors clean enough to cut down on the frequency of manual hoovering. Find one that has an easy navigation, can clean stairs and corners, and has a large dust bin that requires emptying only periodically.

There are models that clean and charge themselves, a feature that may be essential for those who have pets or children. A majority of the top performers in our tests have excellent obstacle avoidance.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling, the i3 EVO are the same robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ a good option for those looking for an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of manually emptying their robot vacuum cleaner's dustbin when it is full.

Both robots do well picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors and they are very good in moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart map of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean efficiently. However unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we tested the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities and therefore it could get stuck on things such as power cords or socks, and it may have trouble navigating across surface transitions like from hardwood to rug.

iRobot suggests cleaning up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it might come across. It's also an excellent idea to keep the dust bin and filter clean so that they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is empty, it returns to its docking station and automatically empties its dirt into the station's external dustbin, and then continues cleaning where it left off. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half continuous use, and it takes around three hours to recharge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is a top model from iRobot’s flagship line, and it comes with the latest features. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and to move around the room and sweep the area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. After connecting to these services, we were able use the i7+'s voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world of vacuums with cords that are like minivans and buses, this tiny Dyson model feels like an old-fashioned sports car. It's powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system captures allergens and expels clean air back into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets, and then pick up large particles or fine dust. It comes with three suction settings to meet the task that is being completed. It quickly converts from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum and back.

The model also comes with an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in 3.5 hours and best self cleaning vacuum provides easy access to two attachments and an Wand clip. This is a huge improvement over older Dysons, which take a long time to charge and are difficult to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. As CR's tests show, its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. This is an average not an extraordinary run time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. That's still enough run time to get rid of the majority of a typical-sized home however, it's not enough to get every single spot (though an additional run-through often will suffice). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeably superior on low-pile floor carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in an expensive robot. It was able to remove all kinds of debris and sizes during our testing and often went over the same area several times to ensure an efficient clean. The flat front of the unit allows it reach into corners and along the edges of walls and walls, which is a nice touch.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home. However, it lacks the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, such as our top picks, i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. It is also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and performs better on low-pile and bare floors.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

However, it wasn't particularly well with larger objects, like cords and socks which was a disappointment. It's also more expensive than some of the other models we tested which could be a deterrent for some shoppers.

The app lets you access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the robot's cleaning zone. This feature lets you check in on your children or pets while you're away. The dustbin and filter can be washed to make cleanup quick and easy.
