Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot broom vacuum can keep the floors clean enough to cut down on the frequency at which you'll need to manually vacuum. Pick a robot vacuum with good navigation, can clean corners and stairs and has large bins that needs to be emptied periodically.

There are also models that mop and charge themselves which can be important for people with pets or children. A lot of the top performers in our tests also have good obstacle avoidance.

1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ an excellent option for those looking for an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but don't mind manually emptying their robot's dustbin as it gets full.

Both robots do well cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors, and they're excellent at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ doesn't have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top rated robot vacuum-rated robots that we test. It could get stuck on power cords or socks, and may have trouble navigating between surfaces, such as hardwood and rug.

iRobot suggests cleaning up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or other clutter it might come across. You should also keep the dustbin and filter clean to prevent them from becoming clogged. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or its battery is depleted, it returns to its docking station, automatically empties its dirt into the station's dust bin and then resumes cleaning the area where it left off. Battery life is about an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes about three hours to fully charge.

2. Roomba by iRobot

The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and the most crucial feature of all -- it comes with self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum cleaner on sale vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ can make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can control your robot through the app or by voice.

The i7+ is more efficient and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, though it self-empties its dust bin which eliminates a major source of maintenance and cuts down on the amount of time spent cleaning.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to start or stop cleaning sessions and also to move around the room, and to vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. Once connected to these services, we were able give the i7+ voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car that is amidst a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in many households, but it also fits perfectly next to the coffee table or shelves where you can wave it around like a magic tool.

The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system captures allergens, and then lets cleaner air into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets, and then pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It has three suction modes to match the task being performed. It swiftly switches from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum and back again.

The model also comes with an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in 3.5 hours and offers an easy access to two attachments as well as a clip for a wand. This is a significant improvement over older Dysons, which take a long time to charge and are a pain to store.

The V10's main drawback is its limited run time. Its claims on the market that it has up to 60 minutes of run time are misleading as CR's tests have shown. This is an average, not an exceptional, run time for a battery-powered cordless vac. This is still enough to vacuum the majority of a home that's average size but not long enough to get every single area (though an additional run-through often does the trick). This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is significantly better on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums The 694 is an affordable model that's an excellent choice for people who don't wish to spend too much money on a robot. It was able to remove most types of debris and sizes during our tests and would often go over the same area many times to give a thorough clean. The flat front of the unit allows it to reach into corners and along the edges of walls and walls, which is a nice touch.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and navigate your home. However, it lacks the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, including our top picks, i3+EVO and j7+ Series. As a result, it may get stuck on things like phone cords or low furniture, and it frequently is power-depleted before returning to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects in that it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in maneuvering itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and charges quicker.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also comes with physical boundaries strips that can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It also feels more sturdy and has a stronger motor, and is able to perform better on bare floors and carpets with low pile, while providing a greater variety of features for automation.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a name you see on all sorts of home electronics So it's no surprise that they're also one of the most reputable mop and robot broom vacuum manufacturers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is packed with cutting-edge onboard technology to aid in navigation and obstacles avoidance.

The app offers a variety of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior modification, docking frequency settings, and more. It's easy to understand and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86 percent of it. However, it did not do particularly well with higher-up objects like cords or socks which was a disappointment. It's priced higher than other models that we tested, and this could be a deal breaker for some buyers.

The app lets you access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the robot's area of cleaning. Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. They feature an extra-wide cleaning path as well as a large dustbin that holds twice as much debris than competitors to keep the area free of debris for the longest period of time. They also have two side sweepers for cleaning along edges and corners. The POWERSERIES model comes with AutoSense which adjusts the power level according to whether it's picking up surface dirt or embedded dirt. The application also allows you to manually steer the robot if needed. For instance, my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that has a tendency to cause confusion for other robots I've tried. The HRV 425BL, however was able to continue to move across the border without registering the cliff. The ability to program a cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving advantage.
