The i3+ doesn't have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we test. It could be stuck on power cords or socks and have difficulty navigating between surfaces, such as hardwood and rug.

iRobot recommends that you tidy up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it may encounter. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filter free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station’s external dustbin. It then continues cleaning from where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for about an hour and a half of continuous use, and it takes about three hours to recharge.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot to start or stop cleaning sessions as well as move around the room and even vacuum a specific area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. After being connected, to speak commands to the i7+ such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom."
