WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. A random substat is also added to every upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities, and is accessible at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the item level upgrade level, but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear. For example, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display the item upgrader kit's next upgrade level in the event that there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the item slot, and the current item level. For example weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Upgraders for items can be found in many places on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Crests

These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader for the item, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and routes.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it brings some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, when an item upgrade reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests with care, since they only have one use. For instance it's Best item upgrade to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear you have available and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
