World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and damage from PvE.

For instance a weapon that has the upgrade template that is ending in % will take on 3damage to attack each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item upgrader mod's level. The cost increases with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into weapons, armor, and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra effect when they're used. They can be acquired through crafting, buying from vendors, trading or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to devices that have slots. The item must be upgraded to blue level before a component can be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the back items that are not ascending. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of an Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. If the player has enough tokens, they can roll the upgrade of their item. The item will be replaced with a brand new one that is based on a level 1 base and completely different bonuses.
