WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item upgrading by +3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for the latter due to the need to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be visited anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to level up weapons tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the item slot, item Level Upgrade and the current item level. For example weapons cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.

Upgraders for items are available in many places on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades are acquired via a variety of means that are both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. Once the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is true even if those items are from another set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW players have a couple of choices. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific Best item upgrade level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that Crests are only available to equipment with a certain rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The most basic and straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulty levels to obtain equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item upgrades in the proper steps and pathways.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it does bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, once an item level upgrade (blog post from Google) reaches the highest upgrade items level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrade equipment you have and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all slots are full of high-quality equipment.
