Robot vacuums can help you save time and effort when it comes to regular cleaning. The best ones are adept at picking up dust, light debris and cords.

The more expensive models even clean your floors, though they aren't able to climb the stairs. Choose models that have smart mapping, real-time hazard avoidance, and roomy self-emptying bins.

Compared to the top-rated models this Black and Decker robot vacuum is less equipped with object-avoidance technology and its navigation score is lower. It does however have an enormous dust bin that doesn't need frequent emptying and a long battery life. It also comes with an option that allows you to schedule cleaning sessions and then return to the place it stopped last, making it easier to cover larger areas. This model is an excellent choice for pet owners, since it is able to avoid hair tangles and food particles.

In our tests, we discovered that the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra combined the LIDAR (light) sensor that can map rooms and detect obstacles using a structured-light sensor that can identify objects and detect edges. The best for Carpet

If you have carpeting, pick an automatic vacuum with a high rating for carpet and rug maneuverability and pickup. Many models are good at picking up dust in low-pile rugs. Some are capable of cleaning up larger debris, such as orzo pasta and metal screws. However, they can't handle fine particles as well as canister or upright vacuums, and they may not pick up dirt that is ground-in close to baseboards and thresholds.

The best choice for most carpeted homes is a two-in-one robot vacuum/mop. It lets you swap in a cleaning bin and mopping pad with damp. We were impressed by its ability to navigate on floors that are not bare as well as rug. The Combo i5 has a long time to run and excellent path planning for a device of this size.

If you're looking for a high-tech model, consider the Shark AI Ultra 2-in-1 Self-Empty Robot Vacuum & Mop. It comes with a large dock that can last for weeks and not need to be empty. It also features impressive navigation and auto-emptying capabilities on carpets and bare floors. It's also got a smart-mapping feature and can be programmed to operate at certain times of the day (a handy feature for keeping mischievous kids and dextrous pets from causing chaos). The Shark isn't as powerful as other mop/robot combination models, but it still manages to pick up pet hair and hair with a high degree of accuracy. It's also the best price of our top picks.

Ideal for Hard Floors

The best two-in-one robots combine a vacuum and a mop, taking care of a more complete chore in one go. Choose one that has an onboard sensor to detect changes in the floor's texture and adjust suction to match. If you have lots of hardwood flooring in your home you might want to consider a robot mop and vacuum like the Eufy S1 Pro. This model is a powerful robotic vacuum equipped with smart navigation that can clean hardwood and other surfaces. It can also mop. Its sensors assist it in avoiding the stairs and other hazards, so you don't need to worry about the bot cleaner plummeting down the stairs and breaking your hardwood.

When you need mops the eufy S1 Pro is designed to actually wash hardwood floors using downward pressure, rather than wipe them clean to get rid of light dust and dirt. Its reusable mop pads reduce waste, make it less likely to spread germs and can be cleaned in the docking station to save your time. The mops are also able to be dried, washed, and reused.

The most affordable models struggle with the same challenges that the older ones faced, and many of them need a certain amount of illumination to see where they're going. If you reside in a dark area or have lots of low-profile furniture, consider buying a model that utilizes top-mounted spinning laser units to map your space, like our best overall and runner-up picks do. This allows them to work in the dark and avoid obstacles such as stairs.

In addition to being capable of working in the dark and in the dark, these models can be configured to use their cliff sensors only near or on the floor, not above them.
