WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less useful for the latter due to the need to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader kit upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

The cost of upgrades will be based on the current item Level upgrade level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. For instance, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that are used to level up weapons and tools, armor and accessories. They can be bought by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for various currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool using an button, which displays an item's preview when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.

Upgraders for items are available in many places, including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades are acquired via several methods, which is both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. After an upgrade has been completed to a certain item level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies even if the items come from a different set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut also, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.

Crests

Players have a variety of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests can only be spent on gear of a specific rank, and every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, depending on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in all difficulty levels to obtain equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader for the item upgrading such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests with care, since they only have one use. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the Best item upgrader gear that you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
