Shark Ion Robot Vacuum 750 Review

Out-of-the-box assembly is fairly simple and requires you to attach the side brushes into the appropriate position and then plug in the dock station. The body of the robot is constructed of hard plastic with a matt-finish feels solid.

It has a limited set of physical automation features and uses random paths to navigate. It also has a non-descript dustbin capacity, and there is no maximum fill sensor.

Battery life

The Ion Robot 750 offers impressive battery performance, offering 90 minutes of runtime with the maximum suction power. The robot is set to an energy-efficient Eco mode and you can switch between it and the more powerful Max mode via the app. The app allows you to manage a variety of settings, including scheduling the robot to clean at the time that you prefer. The History tab of the app gives you an entire report of each cleaning session, so you can check if the robot needs to be recharged or not.

The ION Robot 750 feels well-made and has a long battery life which should allow it to wash most rooms without the need to return to its dock. It can struggle to clean low-pile carpets and pet hair. Additionally, its automation features aren't as sophisticated as those of the Shark AI Robot, which is more expensive.

The Ion Robot 750 is not extremely maneuverable and relies on a random path to cover a large space. This can cause it to miss certain areas and often end up going back over the same spot more than once. It also gets stuck in rugs and cords. Although it does not have self-emptying docking stations however, it takes four hours to charge. It is possible to detect when it's charging by observing its two lights, which switch from flashing white to solid white when fully charged. The app allows you to determine the battery's level and display it in an abar graph. You can use the app to create cleaning schedules and to activate extended cleaning.

Performance on bare Floors

Shark's ION robot is a budget-friendly option that has a good battery performance and is able to clean floors effectively. It struggles with carpets with low pile and is less sophisticated set of automation features in comparison to the more expensive Shark models.

It uses a Tri-Brush System to tackle dirt dust, debris, and dust from all surfaces, including corners and edges. It works with the SharkClean App and also with voice control through Alexa and Google Assistant.

Contrary to the smart-pathing iRobot Roomba 675, the ION Robot has mediocre maneuverability and is prone to miss certain places while cleaning others several times. The random path it takes can cause it to become stuck under furniture, bump into obstacles like electrical wires, or be unable to reach certain spots. It also doesn't take as much debris off rugs.

The ION Robot can be triggered to clean by pressing a button on its side, and it's compatible with the Amazon Echo and Google Home. It also has an infrared sensor that is able to detect when it is running out of battery and then automatically return to its charging station.

The Shark companion app allows you to toggle between three power settings: the eco-friendly 'Eco mode' that is energy efficient', the default Normal mode', and the High Suction Max mode. There are physical buttons on the top that let you choose these modes. This vacuum has two side brushes with single-arms that can push debris in the direction of its main brushroll. It also has a handy bin that can be emptied by pressing the trash button on the top.

Performance on carpets with low pile

The shark cordless vacuum self empty ION RV700 Series does very well on floors with low piles, but has a hard time with pet hair or small particles. It also has mediocre maneuverability, and its basic random navigation system for pathing is not effective at covering the entire area, which could result in it slipping up spots and having to cover them several times. It has a small dustbin that needs to be empty at the end of each cleaning session. It doesn't have a sensor that will let you know when it is about to fill up. This could be a problem in the event that your robot is on standby during scheduled cleaning sessions.

Eufy 11S, a low-cost robot that is able to clean low-pile and bare floors effectively is a great choice. It's more convenient to store and is more maneuverable than the Shark ION, especially when it comes to carpets that have higher pile. It doesn't have 'Max' power like the RV700 and its dustbin dimensions are smaller.

Alternately, the iRobot Roomba E5 is much better-built, has an improved dirt compartment and is more affordable. It also charges faster than the shark one vacuum self empty system ION. However, it has a shorter battery life and can't handle rugs as well. It does come with an intelligent app and voice control, which can make it more efficient than the Shark for certain users. Shark ION is a good option if you're in search of robot vacuums that perform well and doesn't require WiFi connectivity.

Performance on high-pile Carpet

The shark wand vacuum self empty ION RV700 Series can pick up fine debris in low-pile carpets and pet hair from a small dog bed, but it has a difficult time to remove larger particles such as cereal crumbs or chocolate melting. It's also unable to clean dirt from thick wool rugs, such as a Persian or Kilim rug. In addition, it may get stuck on wires or become caught on the tassels and tassels of heavier rugs.

The robot isn't very maneuverable, and relies upon random paths to cover its area of coverage instead of mapping out and following efficient routes. This means it could miss some areas while vacuuming other areas more than once, and it doesn't recognize magnetic boundary strips to prevent it from entering rooms you don't want to be in.

You can also set virtual boundaries to stop the robot from entering rooms you don't want.

The app will also inform you if the robot is fully charged or still charging. The dust bin of the robot isn't huge however you'll have to empty it every cleaning session. Regularly changing the pre-motor and brushroll is essential. It is also important to check the extension cord periodically for tangled wires or obstructions if your vacuum is connected to it. The robot vacuum may fall down the stairs if placed too close to the stairs.

Overall

This is a basic robotic shark vacuum that is well-made and has a long battery life. It also works well on hard floors and is capable of cleaning pet hair. It's not great in navigating obstacles and its navigation system isn't very sophisticated. This could lead it to overlook certain areas of your house. It also has high recurring costs and requires frequent maintenance.

The eufy RoboVac11S is an excellent alternative to this model. It is less expensive, removes pet hair more effectively on all types of surfaces, and has a better performance on carpets with a low pile than the Shark ION Robot. It is also simpler to store, and recurring costs are lower. However, it's not equipped with a self-emptying base station which means you'll need to manually empty its debris bin when it reaches capacity.

The iRobot Roomba j7 is another alternative. It offers many of similar features to the ION Robot, but is more expensive. It's more robust and comfortable to hold, comes with a much larger dustbin, and can re-start cleaning from where it left off after returning to its dock to recharge. It can also set up virtual boundaries to prevent it from specific areas, and has a suite of advanced automation features.

Like most robotic vacuums, the Shark Ion Robot comes with an app companion to mobile devices which lets you manage its functions and plan cleaning times. The main screen lets you to begin a new cleaning job and switch between power settings, and choose between different modes of operation. The application is compatible with both Android and iOS devices, and integrates with smart home devices that allow certain features via voice commands.
