World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade

Item upgrade allows players to raise the item level of weapons and armor that are equippable. This improves the power of the equipment, and also sometimes adding buffs or rolling an affix again.

It is important to keep in mind that while you can upgrade your magic and common equipment, it's generally not worth the cost. Rare and unique gear will quickly surpass the standard equipment and upgraded magic.
