Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, increasing the base stats of the item or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.

Items that have weak bases, like rings, can be upgraded into more robust bases. Items with bases that are strong, such as Titans from eth, have no change in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be used to upgrade trinkets, weapons, armor and gathering tools, giving an attribute bonus or extra effect when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, found in loot, dropped by enemies or as a reward from missions or chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain point before they can be upgraded.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player must select it and then click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade stats and the necessary component or materials.

There are three types of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, such as gems, are able to be used on any kind of equipment. They offer a lower bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type restriction. Infusions, which can only be placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, will add their names to the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding an Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If an individual upgrades a gathering tool, and replaces the glyphs by a different one the previous one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, with the exception of the inscriptions that can be swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade process is different from previous versions in several important ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost of upgrading is increased with each level, but the required materials aren't as high. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a specific few items and maximize the effect of those items rather than spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.

If an item upgrader is leveled out, it will be able to receive a new set of upgrade components, and an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Power and it will reset to zero on failure or increases when the upgrade is successful.

Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it is able to get the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the type of item it is. For example, an uncommon or unique weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes, while a legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade step requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, based on the type of item at its current level and in what slot it is in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item fails to reach its maximum level, the NPC gives the player the option to transfer it to a new character and re-infuse the item with a different set of upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours, and costs the same amount of material. However, it has a lower chance of success.

To determine the height of a structure engineers utilize an instrument to compare the measurement against an established reference point, like a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level and backsight rod, then turning the level and making the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that structures are built to the highest degree of precision and security.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering an item's upgrade components. It is a very important part of the game and can increase the strength, damage, or other attributes. You can do this through the item menu, or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling items can be expensive and should be handled with care.

Reroll tokens are derived by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item or an item of the same type. Recyclable items come with an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item.

In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes that made them easier to roll for than other. It meant that you'd get the most crucial stats to your build more often than others. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns and control impaired duration reduction stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for all stats. This could be good or bad, depending on what you want and need from your equipment.

Each upgraded Best item upgrader may also come with a unique fixed-value, fixed-value benefit that increases its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to the standard affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the higher your chance of getting the bonus of your choice.

The game also includes various sets that offer a set-based bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on an item. This is a great method to add lots of power to a particular character without spending a lot of money.

Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear, especially in the early stages. This is because rerolling could offer a quicker path to a powerful character and allows them to climb high tiers and progress the game much more quickly.

Sets

Sets are collections of elements that can be arranged in a variety of ways. They can have different sizes, have no elements at all or contain a single element. They can be used for organizing data or separating information. They can also be used for analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways in terms of size and shape.

There are a variety of set items available to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some are worth upgrading, others are not. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets with high defense value and set bonuses. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in boosting stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you already have lots of weapons or armor pieces already.

Certain set items are upgraded to meet their own unique functions, which can be particularly useful in some builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are two examples of this. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements also increased).

Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them into the same level as their tiers. For instance the Immortal King set has a large level range, from 29 to 76. Upgrades to lower level items can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item and the items required to upgrade it. The item's attributes will be displayed, along with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth face for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternatively, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to find out the upgrade requirements of specific items.

In general, armor and weapons have a higher trade value when fully updated. Particularly for weapons with damage glyphs for spells or weapons and are upgraded to gold is recommended as it will give a substantial increase in their performance. The armor that has a new appearance will also benefit from this as its defense value will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
