Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can be a great source of additional damage or more AD or even more attachments.

Sometimes, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade gear due to their higher requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a form of upgrade that can be applied to weapons and armor items. They increase the effectiveness of the item upgrades that they are connected to. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be placed in any type of equipment, however, jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded, and only works with specific types of trinkets.

These trinkets can also grant buffs and skills that are active whenever the hero is not fighting. This allows the hero to perform better when they are not active, and can also help fill in the void of a strong team or any talent tree slots that normally are filled with the hero's best statistics.

As a general rule, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best in Slot) items that you will not replace soon.
