Robot vacuums can save you time and effort when it comes to regular cleaning. The best ones are adept at cleaning up dust, light debris and cords.

The most expensive models can even mop your floor however they're not able to climb up stairs. Look for models with smart mapping, real-time hazard avoidance, and large self-emptying bins.

Best for Carpet

We liked its navigation on floors that are not bare and rug. The Combo i5 also has a very long runtime and great path planning for a device of this size.

If you're looking to buy a high-tech vacuum, the Shark AI Ultra 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum & Mop is a great option. It has a huge charging dock that can last for weeks without needing to be empty, and it has impressive navigation skills and automatic emptying on carpets and floors. It also has a smart mapping system that can be set to run only during specific hours (a beneficial feature to keep pets and children who are prone to mischief from running amok). The Shark has less powerful suction than other mop/robot combos however it's still efficient in removing hair and pet hair and is the best value of our top choices.

Best for Hard Flooring

Robot vacuums are a great pick for hardwood floors because they are able to easily maneuver around obstacles and not damage surfaces that are not bare. They are fantastic at picking up dust and crumbs, but they struggle with pet hair and larger debris. They also lack the suction power of a high-end upright or canister vacuum, which is why they're not the best option for rooms with carpets or upholstery that needs deep cleaning.

The best two-in-one robots combine a vacuum and a mop, taking care of the entire chore in one sweep. The Eufy S1 Pro mop is designed to clean hardwood floors using downward pressure, rather than simply swab them in order to remove dirt and dust. The mop pads that are reusable reduce the amount of waste and spread germs less, and can be cleaned in the docking station to save you time. The mop pads can also be washed and dried to stop the spread of mold.

The models can also be programmed to use their cliff sensors only when they are on or near the ground, but not when they are above it. It's important to cover mirrors to prevent this from occurring. The laser used by the LIDAR-based models could bounce off reflective surfaces, making the robot cleaner think it's in another room.
