Cyberpunk 2077 Item Upgrading Guide

Item upgrading is a key component to maximizing the potential of your gear. It lets you add additional stats to your item's base level value.

Each upgrade template comes with set of options that can be configured via the GUI. These options include the upgrade reference and the chance to upgrade.

Upgrade components

As part of the 2.0 update the method of upgrading weapons and armor in Cyberpunk has been improved. Upgrade components can be found throughout Night City, and the item that you want to upgrade must have an upgrade slot available. The game will show a preview of the item's expected stats after upgrading. It will also show the component or material needed. If you don't have the level or resource to upgrade an item the button will read "Blocked."

The items that can be upgraded include armor and weapons as well as a few trinkets and gathering tools. The upgrade slots on all of these can be filled with different upgrades that offer bonus features or additional effects when the equipment is being used. These upgrades are available through crafting, bought from a vendor or looted.

There are two kinds of upgrade components: gems and universal upgrades. Universal upgrades are comparable to gems and can be used in any equipment.
