Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The process of upgrading an item, often known as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment increases the stat linearly.

Players can recycle six items at a time to gauge each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling items scales depending on their rarity and level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an item upgrade is a way to increase the stats of your armor and weapons. This can be accomplished by a number of means such as the use of upgrade components and also upgrading an item's mark level or rarity. Many items can also be reforged to increase their value.

Upgradeable items are available all over the game, both in the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be created by players. Upgrade components are the most common method to upgrade equipment. These are the items that slot into equipment. Most equipment has slots to upgrade and some require a certain amount of upgrade. Certain upgrade components offer specific bonuses while others give a general bonus.

There are many types of upgrade elements available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gems and enchantments, can be put on any equipment, and offer less than equipment-specific upgrades. Glyphs can be placed in gathering tools and offer numerous benefits, from increasing the speed of an item's gathering to supplying additional crafting materials.

To upgrade an item, select it from your inventory and open the Upgrade window. The window will show an overview on the right side of the screen showing the expected stats after the upgrade, and any necessary components or materials. If you do not have enough of either, the Upgrade button will say Blocked.

The amount of upgrade components required for a given item is displayed in the upper-right corner of the Upgrade window. The cost of an upgrade increases depending on the upgrade level and rarity, but can be reduced through various methods, such as buying upgrades from a retailer or trading them with other players.

Almost all weapons can be upgraded by a prefix upgrade like an insignia, or a rune, and a lot of them can be upgraded using an upgrade suffix. These upgrades change the name of the item to add an adjective, like 'Radiant' or 'Minor Vigor. The only exceptions are the non-inscribable weapons, such as shields and foci from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which are not upgradeable with any kinds of mods.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to convey visual information. They animate in order to grab the attention of the viewer and spark curiosity. The glyphs' animation mimics body language, making them more effective at conveying messages across language barriers. Glyphs also create a sense of familiarity in the brain, thereby increasing retention of the message.

Each glyph can increase a stat's value by a certain range. This is shown on the item's page when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This range is the maximum value that a glyph could improve a stat by and not the amount it actually improves the stat by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the quality and tier of the item you're creating it for.

The majority of upgrade components that are slotted into items cannot be replaced or salvaged without removing the gear in question, except for legendary equipment and upgrades. However, if you have an unusable rune or glyph that hasn't yet been incorporated into your gear, you can move it to a different piece of equipment by utilizing the Upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.

You can remove a glyph by using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. This will cause the item to be destroyed within which it is placed but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item by using the glyph and its shards, therefore, it shouldn't be considered a loss.

Adding a glyph to an item may cause it to become unstable, and the shards of that glyph will disappear from your inventory when you remove the item. You can also apply an inscription to your equipment to add an additional benefit. Deferred Damage, for example can be used to store damage and be distributed slowly to the wearer rather than all at one time. This is helpful for players who take lots of damage from enemies, but don't want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens allow players to alter the affixes they use on their weapons and equipment and can be found through a variety of methods, including in mistery boxes, as an uncommon drop from skulled creatures, or even from killing bosses. Each reroll provides the player with an affix randomly chosen and typically better than what they had before. Reroll tokens can be used to boost weapon stats for more damage or bonuses.

Rerolled items are not listed in the menu of item upgrades, but they can still be upgraded. By pressing the "upgrade item button" you can recycle these rerolled items. This will change the layout of the item's window, and allow up to six items to be chosen to recycle. The gauge of level is increased by recycling an item. This amount is determined by the rarity of the item and its level. Therefore, items that are higher level are more valuable for recycling than items with lower levels.

In addition to reroll tokens players can also use Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to roll the Weapon Traits of an upgraded unit. Rerolls roll a percentage chance for a weapon's trait. If it rolls higher, then the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower the weapon remains as is. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.

Rerolls are a good option for upgrading an item upgrader kit, but players must be aware that it can reduce the overall ilvl the weapon due to the number of rerolls needed to increase the weapon to its ultimate ilvl. This effect of lowering is most effective on Diadems and rings, which have no other options for raising ilvls.

Some players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It would be fairer to allow people to pay for it with cash or food items which would allow them to make changes to their builds without having to spend excessive amounts of time. However the paid rerolls aren't something the developers are planning to incorporate at this point in the game's development. Instead, they plan to add an ability to change races in the near future.

Leveling

There are a variety of ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the upgrade amount which boosts the value of an upgrade for the stat. The alternative is to increase the effect of an upgrade, which boosts the damage or healing of the stat. Additionally, there is the ability to upgrade the base item to an upgrade type. After this the new item will maintain its iLevel but it will have the upgrade effects of the upgraded item upgrader mod type.

When you upgrade items, it is important to keep in mind that upgrades aren't always planned. In the majority of cases, a better roll will result from glyphs, but there are also chances for higher or more special rolls. The item type will also determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a rare or exclusive item to a special item type, then it has a chance of gaining a higher level.

The cost of upgrading items can be expensive, particularly if you're upgrading a piece of equipment from a standard to the legendary track. The cost will depend on the item's base iLevel and the amount of upgrade levels it offers. In addition, some upgrade tracks require crests in order to reach the next upgrade level.

If you're lucky, your upgraded item level upgrade will be at the maximum level of its upgrade Item track, and will unlock an additional benefit. This will give you a substantial increase in the value of the item. The bonus effect will vary with each upgrade level however. In general, the effect of upgrading is increased by +3.

The iLevel can also change depending on the item's upgrade path and its base level. For instance, a weapon that is upgraded from a rare or exclusive item to an extraordinary item is likely to get the Enhanced Defense of the base item type.
