WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. A random additional substat is also added to each upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be visited at any time to upgrade items your gear. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every several weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, however, they are always cheaper than buying new gear. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that are used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and other accessories. They are purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool using a button, which will show an item's preview at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the item slot, and the current item level. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Item upgraders can be found in many places, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of obtaining the latest recipe. The first thing to note is that crests can only be spent on gear of a specific rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. Another notable change is that crests only have one usage and it's crucial to use them properly. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the Best item upgrader gear that you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
