What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

A transparent device that allows certain Pokemon species evolve. Silph Co. produced it.

The item upgrader adds a brand new widget to the top of the Angel and Cash Upgrade windows. The Manager is priced at 33 billion Angel Investors, and has no other benefit to the game, aside from making it easier to purchase upgrades.

Boosters

There are a myriad of boosts available with an item upgrader. They can include stats as well as extra bonuses. These bonuses can be used on weapons, armor and trinkets. They can be used to enhance a character's abilities or to give a new dimension of variety to their character.

Costs

There are some costs associated with item upgrades. The first is the cost to perform the upgrade. It can be costly and depends on the new ilvl of the item and the number perks it gains. It is also costly to upgrade an item to a higher level (such as Explorer > Champion, or Veteran > Heroic).

The second is the cost of the materials needed for an upgrade. These items are usually Power Dices (dropped from monsters 21+), Minerals and Erons or specific Mists Of Pandaria or Warlords Of Draenor Quests. The amount of these items required can be seen in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.

It takes time to upgrade an item. Depending on the size of the upgrade, it can take as long as 8 hours. The base stats of the upgraded item are calculated based upon its new ilvl and other properties. This calculation determines new Armor Class bonuses, damage dice, and other important statistics. In some instances the upgrade will provide additional benefits that can be chosen from a variety of benefits.

In rare instances the upgrade items will only replace the highest-costing benefits. Sometimes, the upgrader will make other changes to an item, for example, changing the damage type of a weapon or or removing an operative or unwieldy property. These modifications are based on an item's ilvl, and may require special materials, such as adamantine.

Success Rate

The upgrade of an item is based on chance. Like any random system there is a chance that it won't succeed. There are several ways to increase the chances of success. This includes using an Upgrade Pity or adding additional components to your upgrade.

An Upgrade Pity is an item you can purchase from the smithing NPC in Lost Ark. It increases the chance of the upgrade items being successful by some percentage. It is similar to the luck bonus some items come with however it is more reliable. It can be added to any armor or weapon and can be used up to three times.

You can also add additional materials to the upgrade to increase its chances of success. The materials are displayed in a window located above the + button. There are some limitations. The maximum amount of material you can upload is shown directly above the + button.

Another method to increase the odds of a successful upgrade is to use an item called a Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version of it. This item is useful in the event that you have an item of equipment that has reached the maximum level for its tier or is close to it. It will let you upgrade that piece of gear to the next level without having to worry about breaking.

If an upgrade fails the system will be returned to its original condition. This is typically a downgrade, but can also be an upgrade. It is recommended to save an upgrade for when you are close to the highest level of an item, and to use it as an emergency.

Kafra offers a variety of items that can be utilized in order to increase the chance of an upgrade being successful. For instance, upgrading a piece of equipment with HD Oridecon or HD Elunium multiple times will give you a higher chance of success.
