Path of Exile item upgrades (one-time offer)

Item upgrades are a common and essential way to boost the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can be a great source of extra damage or more AD or even more attachments.

Sometimes, however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is often surpassed by Rare-grade gear due to their requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They improve the stats of whatever item upgrading they are attached to. Upgrades to armor are available in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using a professional or higher salvage kits to salvage upgrade components from other items.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it is able to take on. The upgrade of an armor piece to maximum upgrade item level will boost the damage it absorbs. It's important to remember that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it must be more heavy.

There are many different kinds of armor upgrade available in the game. Each one has a distinct impact. Certain upgrades grant armor an additional number of health points, while others make it stronger and lighter. The name of the upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade an item upgrade can be given, as illustrated below.

Some of the upgrades are also magic or a mix of technology and magic, which is identified by the "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Certain upgrades require charges to use. These are indicated as "Charges" entries in the table. The charges for these upgrades change daily or never expire, depending on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest way to upgrade your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small chests. Titanium is more expensive, however it is obtainable through smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant increases in stats and are worth the investment.

The process of upgrading an armor piece to the highest upgrade level will greatly boost its defense, but the player should be aware that increasing its weight can drastically decrease its agility and speed. Therefore, it is typically not recommended to upgrade the majority of armor pieces above +9, because the increase in defense is usually not worth the weight and power cost of the improvements required.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to improve the effectiveness of certain aspects of a weapon. Upgrades can boost the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage that shotgun shells do. Certain weapons also come with upgrades that improve their innate qualities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, minimizes weapon overheating) and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's velocity to cause more damage) are two examples.

The majority of upgrades for weapons require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. These are obtained through either doing side quests, or killing a certain number of monsters or bosses, or from the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.

To upgrade the weapon, equipment set piece or Whetblade You must go to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain amount of bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars you will need to complete the upgrade. The cost of upgrades will be lower if you have more than one of the upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a certain amount of Bars. You could continue to do this until you reached the maximum upgrade level for the weapon or equipment, after which the upgrades would be reset.

You can still do this, but the process is based on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're much better off visiting stores and buying equipment that has low upgrade levels but good base scores and stat distributions. These gears have a greater chance of granting you the highest level of advantages and benefits.

To improve their skills faster, many players prioritize upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their squadmates use to make them stronger. Shepard for instance, should upgrade the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more effective when accompanied with biotic specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are used in the sockets of armor and weapons, enhancing the power of a character and bringing about secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is a method for making them, in which you combine gemstones with specific reagents in a jewelry table. The higher the grade of the gemstone is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained around the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.

The quality of a diamond can be improved at the Jeweler, in stages that vary from Crude to Royal. Depending on the tier of the jewel it will give different stat boosts when inserted into weapons, gear and jewelry.

All tiers of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels which require you to be at a sufficient level to obtain these. Jewels can be replaced by another jewel without damaging the original. However you can only swap out one jewel in a piece of equipment only once.

The use of more jewels in the movement will make it feel smoother and is typically done for aesthetic reasons. Jewels also enhance performance and make a surface harder than steel, so that the repeated friction from pivots do not cause damage to the movement.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs that can enhance the look of your weapons and shields. They offer a small benefit and can be swapped freely however they aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold, and also scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be taken out from the inventory, and they are returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as aegis and traits, are not swappable, and can only be retrieved using an Upgrade Extractor, or by salvaging them using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are pieces of equipment that bestow a wide range of tiny but valuable advantages to your hero. They can be obtained in the areas of starting as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, or by performing road interactions. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket a player will unlock is the cloak. It gives a small but valuable boost in movement speed and evasion. The player can then acquire necklaces, rings, and amulets in a similar manner as they did with weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with one upgrade slot that can accept either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades provide smaller bonuses and can be put into any type of equipment, however, jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and is only compatible with certain types of trinkets.

These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't fighting. This allows the hero to perform better when they are not active and may also help fill in the void of a strong team or any slots from the talent tree that would normally be filled with the hero's Best item upgrade stats.

A good rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing soon, followed by items with desirable stats, but less important than the iLevel of the item being upgraded. This is especially true when an item upgrader has multiple stats that you'd like to upgrade, as it's often better to upgrade a single important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones.

Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red one prior to the start of the game. Mid and top players, on the other hand will pick either a pink or green ward, depending on the matchup. These choices will have a major impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players will find other trinkets that form of trophies and rewards throughout the game. They can be earned through completing certain milestones in the story, such as completing a chapter's main quest or killing a certain boss. You can see them by clicking on the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
