WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item Level upgrade by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less useful for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item upgrader kit used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be visited anytime to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear current it is recommended you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, however they'll always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment. For instance, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.

When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest level possible on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly true for items such as rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
